Atlanta Neighborhoods

ANSLEY PARK – Ansley Park is one of Atlanta’s premier intown neighborhoods. Located between Peachtree Street and Piedmont Road, the homes represent a full range of eclectic and contemporary suburban architecture.

ATLANTIC STATION – Atlantic Station is located just minutes from Downtown Atlanta. It combines an attractive mix of affordable, middle-income, and up-scale housing with world-class restaurants, theaters, and retailers.

AVONDALE ESTATES – Avondale Estates was founded in 1924 by George Francis Willis, who purchased the entire village of Ingleside to create a planned community. It is known for its close-knit community and diverse architectural styles.

BRIARCLIFF WOODS – Briarcliff Woods is conveniently located off Briarcliff Road with easy access to I-85, Emory and the CDC. The homes sit on large lots and are a mix of new construction, renovations and original homes.

BROOKHAVEN – On the northern edge of Buckhead, Brookhaven developed as Atlanta’s first country club neighborhood. It begins just north of the intersection of Peachtree Road and Peachtree-Dunwoody Road.

BUCKHEAD – Buckhead has been long regarded as an area that mixes business with pleasure – home to many top companies, ritzy boutiques, gourmet restaurants, plenty of nightlife and lots of beautiful homes.

CABBAGETOWN – Cabbagetown is a historic neighborhood in downtown Atlanta that developed around the Fulton Cotton and Bag Mill. Today Cabbagetown is home to a mix of people and independent businesses – all within a six block area.

CANDLER PARK – Candler Park is located in intown Atlanta a few minutes east of downtown and just south of Ponce De Leon Avenue. This National Register of Historic Places neighborhood is one of Atlanta’s first suburbs and was founded in 1890.

DECATUR – Located east of downtown Atlanta, downtown Decatur offers a small-town atmosphere with the benefits of living in a major metropolitan area. Tree-lined streets, great schools, parks, and businesses make Decatur a wonderful place to live.

DRUID HILLS – Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Druid Hills is known for its beautiful linear parks and wooded lots designed and laid out by Frederick Law Olmsted. Today it stands near the center of Atlanta’s sprawling metropolitan area.

EAST ATLANTA – Located about a mile south of Little 5 Points, East Atlanta is one of the hottest intown real estate markets and still one of Atlanta’s best values. It is a diverse, friendly neighborhood with traditional neighborhood charm.

EAST LAKE – East Lake is the eastern most neighborhood in Atlanta, located directly next to Decatur and Oakhurst. Home to classic bungalows and the East Lake Golf Club, East Lake is a popular neighborhood for vibrant, intown living.

EMORY/NORTH DECATUR – The Emory neighborhood is located on the northeast part of town and is home to the Emory University Complex, which includes Emory University, Emory Hospital, Emory Clinic, and the Carlos Museum.

GRANT PARK – This nationally recognized historic district is one of Atlanta’s oldest neighborhoods. Victorian-era mansions and small cottages, early 20th-century bungalows and many brick paved sidewalks characterize the neighborhood.

INMAN PARK – Located two miles east of downtown and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Inman Park is Atlanta’s first planned community. It is a mix of intricate historic homes and new development.

KIRKWOOD – Just four miles east of downtown Atlanta, Kirkwood lies between DeKalb Avenue to the north and Memorial Drive to the south. It is also close to other popular neighborhoods including Candler Park, Inman Park, and East Atlanta.

LAKE CLAIRE – Lake Claire is a neighborhood unit recognized by the City of Atlanta. It is located in northeast Atlanta and is part of the City of Atlanta. It features a great mix of home styles, mature trees, parks, gardens and sidewalks.

LEAFMORE – Leafmore is bordered by Clairmont, LaVista and Oak Grove Roads in the northeast corner of DeKalb county. Its tree lined streets and close proximity to Emory University, CDC and the VA make it a popular neighborhood for a diverse mix of residents.

LITTLE FIVE POINTS – Located between two turn-of-the-century residential neighborhoods, Inman Park and Virginia-Highland, Little Five Points reflects its bohemian air in its unique businesses, cultural activities and colorful people.

MIDTOWN – Midtown is nestled just north of Downtown and south of Buckhead. It is a top destination for culture, fine restaurants and nightlife. It is also home to Atlanta’s Piedmont Park.

MORNINGSIDE – Morningside is a residential neighborhood founded in 1931 with beautiful tree lined streets and charming bungalows. It is located north of Virginia-Highland, east of Ansley Park and west of Druid Hills.

OAK GROVE – Oak Grove is tucked in among many neighborhoods in northeast DeKalb County including Sagamore Hills, Leafmore and Briarcliff Woods. A mix of old and new homes, it is located within minutes to Dekalb Peachtree Airport.

OAKHURST – Oakhurst is a historic neighborhood located south of downtown Decatur and approximately six miles east of downtown Atlanta. The neighborhood is home to restaurants, art galleries and a wide variety of other retailers.

ORMEWOOD PARK – Filled with Craftsman bungalows, cottages and Victorians, this unique neighborhood is located just east of downtown Atlanta, between Grant Park and East Atlanta.

SAGAMORE HILLS -In the northeast section of DeKalb County, the neighborhood primarily consists of ranch homes built in the late 1950’s/early 1960’s. It is noted as a quiet, residential area with mature trees and landscaping and an eclectic mix of residents.

VIRGINIA HIGHLAND – Historic Virginia Highland is one of Atlanta’s most popular neighborhoods for shopping, dining and nightlife. It consists of seven distinct commercial “villages” alternating with short, walkable blocks of charming bungalow homes.

WINNONA PARK – Winnona Park is in the southeast corner of Decatur and is bordered by Agnes Scott College, Columbia Theological Seminary, The Waldorf School and Dearborn Park.
